[RESOLVED] IDE Issue...

I've been having a problem with the VB6 IDE under Windows 8. I've got it up and running but when I open up my project and run my program it works well. When I exit the app, the IDE grinds to a halt.

It's a nice fast computer with lots of ram and a big hard drive. All the other apps run fine even while the VB6 IDE is frozen up. When the IDE is frozen up, the task manager shows VB6 is using about 2% of the CPU and about 160MB ram. It will shoot up to 4% and drop down to 0%. This continues for several minutes (3 - 10) then the IDE comes back to life and all is well again.

The project is just simply huge. It's got to be near the limit for forms and some forms are at the control limit even though every label or button is in a control array. There's also mountains of code and a few 3rd party OCX's.

I'd say it's just too big a project for VB6 but this same project has been running well for years and the changes I'm making are minor. I've even run it on this exact same computer set-up although this is a new computer.

So? What can cause the IDE to grind to a halt like this? Any ideas on how to fix it? Thanks!
